The Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Universitario de Getafe came into being in Madrid in 2003 (Decree 192/2003, dated July 24). It was authorized by the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community of Madrid on the proposal of the Council for Health and Consumption as a non-profit body aimed at promoting scientific-technical research and providing training and teaching in the area of health science, with the aim of enhancing the quality of health care at Hospital Universitario de Getafe.
The Foundation is funded through competitive calls, agreements, donations, and clinical trials. Its primary objectives are promotion of biomedical research, ensuring support for clinical research, obtaining funding and management of funds, as well as publication of the results of research.
