The Salgado Alba Joint Laboratory is the fruit of an association between Hospital Universitario de Getafe and the Centro de Tecnología Biomédica (CTB [Biomedical Technology Center]) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Its main objective is to develop techniques and technologies aimed at making aging a more active and healthy process.

The main research lines of the laboratory are as follows:

1. Understanding the key aspects of aging
2. Developing tools that improve the care of elderly persons
3. Promotion of autonomy among elderly persons
4. Aging and society
